BESTIA

A futuristic nightmare, Bestia (beast) series started in early 2015.
The Bestia are representational snap shots -using a flash camera- of the darkest forest of our souls. Bestie, surprised, puzzled, sometimes pissed off, are blurry and overexposed.
Bestia represent a travel through not exclusively and obviously evil therefore good, but also tradition, religion, sense of displacement, primordial rites and connection with the other world.
In many cultures chiefs, wizards, shamans, as well as evil and legends are represented by horned figures.
While researching on horned characters through paganism religion and popular believe I came across many gatherings in little villages around the area where I was born (southern Italy), where horned figures as “o’ cierv”, the deer (Bestie I), “o’ diavule” (the devil) (Bestie II and III), representing -in most cases- bad weather or luck for crops- were pushed out of the village with brooms, and rakes.
